| The following story appeared in the Hazard, Kentucky Herald in 1961 and recounted the story of the Wollery Eversole homestead and the Civil War action that resulted in the assination of my great-great grandfather, Major John Eversole, 14th Kentucky Calvary. According to the story, Major Eversole was on General Grants staff and was in the photo of the surrender of Lee to Grant at Appomatix Courthouse. |
