Isn’t
it
time for a change on the
Charlotte Mecklenburg
School Board?
If you think so, one of
the great places to
start making a change is
in District 5.

Are you happy with the
"status quo"?
As
you know we only have 2
weeks left until
election day and early
voting has started.
I am writing in support
of my friend Ellen
Loflin, Charlotte
Mecklenburg School Board
Candidate for District
5. Her web site is www.ellenloflin.com.
On Tuesday of this week
the District 5
incumbent, Molly Griffin
(D), voted with the
liberal wing of the
school board to
re-instate racial busing
for the magnet program.
You can read about that
at this link:
http://billjames.org/ListBuilder/listbuilder-email-10-26-2005-CMS%20Returns%20to%20racial%20student%20assignment%20policy.htm
There are two clear
choices. Molly who has
been the pro-busing
incumbent Democrat in a
Republican District or
Ellen Loflin someone
with broad experience, a
belief in fiscal
responsibility and
supporter of
neighborhood schools.

CMS District 5 runs from
Monroe Road--from Hwy 51
to Sharon Amity, down
Hwy 51 (North
side) to Pineville--down
Park Road (both sides
back to S. Blvd.) all
the way to The American
Red Cross; down Sharon
Amity over to Wendover
(both sides-including
Cotswold, Myers Park,
Eastover, etc.) --
basically all of
Southeast Charlotte. The
zip codes include--
-
28203,
-
28207,
-
28209,
-
28210,
-
28211,
-
28270,
-
28226,
-
28274.
Ellen grew up in
Charlotte in District 5
where she still lives.
She attended Charlotte
Mecklenburg Schools.
Ellen has two boys, a 2nd
grader and 5th
grader at Lansdowne
Elementary. She is the
former Program Director
of the Gifted & Talented
Development Center, a
former small business
owner, art teacher and
real estate paralegal.
Ellen is an avid
supporter of public
education and wants to
bring parental
confidence back to
Charlotte Mecklenburg
Schools.
Ellen wants to raise the
awareness of all
citizens of Charlotte
Mecklenburg to the
fiscal waste which is
rampant in CMS.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg
Schools currently has a
budget of over $7000
per child. That is
more than equal to a
private school
education. With 900
employees in the
Education Center, how
much is actually going
into the classroom?
As a School Board
member, Ellen will also
demand that our
discipline policies are
enforced. Teachers
want to be teachers not
policemen. We need
to get the disruptive
and dangerous elements
out of the classroom.
CMS children need to
know there are
consequences to their
behavior.
As you know we are all
affected by the quality
of this school system.
A strong school
system attracts
businesses and simulates
a strong economy.
An inferior school
system will do the
opposite driving
businesses and residents
across the county line.
Charlotte Mecklenburg
schools are at this
crisis point.
Whether or not you have
children in the
Charlotte Mecklenburg
Schools, the quality of
the schools directly
affects your
neighborhood.
Please join me in
support of this
outstanding candidate.
We need to vote no to
the status quo in our
schools.
Please vote for Ellen
Loflin for School Board
in District 5 on Nov.
8th.
