Two Republican candidates for at-large seats on the Mecklenburg County commissioners are spending thousands of dollars to air ads on the Fox News cable channel, a relatively unusual move for a county race.
Jim Puckett has paid $15,360 to air ads that began Friday and will continue through Election Day. Dan Ramirez paid $7,580 to air ads from Oct. 23 through Election Day.
The four other at-large candidates -- Republican Kaye McGarry and Democratic incumbents Parks Helms, Wilhelmenia Rembert and Jennifer Roberts -- said that for now, they're sticking to various combinations of radio ads, yard signs, mailings and print advertising. Rembert said she hasn't completely ruled out the possibility of television ads. -- Carrie Levine |
