Below is an excel provided by the authorities of who the 'perps' were in the Second annual July 4th Melee. In the below list, all are Black. Of course, some will claim it is unnecessary to disclose race because "race" is not the issue (though all are Black). They are right, culture (or a toxic culture to be specific) is to blame (not race) however Charlotte's leaders' refusal to address the breakdown in the urban Black family (illegitimate births are the norm) is the reason things never improve. Their refusal to focus on solutions for that 'cultural segment' is to ignore the problem and fail generations of Black children. It is the same issue as the 'North Meck High riots' and other issues arising in Charlotte (see links below).

In this case, you decide. if there are 25,000 folks watching fireworks in uptown Charlotte, and the only folks arrested during a 'melee'  (according to the police) are young African-Americans; why? So where were these individuals from? According to the police:

• 4 came from 29269 (University City area)

• 2 came from 28206 (inner-city)

• 2 came from 28209 (inner-city)

• 1 came from 28213 (inner-city)

• 1 came from 28214 (inner-city)

• 2 came from 28215 (inner-city)

• 1 came from 28216 (inner-city)

• 2 came from 28273 (inner-city Southwest)

• 1 came from 28277 (suburbia - District 6  - my district - in fact)

• 2 came from out of Mecklenburg (Gastonia and Georgia)

• 4 were from Charlotte but had unknown zip codes

Of course, I have stated for years that the reason is that parents allow these children (and most are recent graduates of childhood) to become unaccountable to authority.  In many cases they are raised by individuals who won't transmit any positive morals or values to them and in the process leaving these recent graduates of childhood with little future in front of them except jail and prison.

Yes, I am the first to acknowledge that sin (or lawlessness) knows no race, creed or gender. Even so, you would think that the fact that most arrests are inner-city African-Americans, as are most of the delinquencies in CMS, most of the jail population, and sadly most underperforming students it would prompt some sort of action plan from Black ministers, civic leaders and politicians. Yet, since I made some bold comments about this matter some 18 months ago, no action has been taken by either Black ministers, civic leaders or the Democrats who control the Legislature, the City Council or the County Commission. Another year, another 'melee', home invasions in uptown condos. This is a long and gruesome story that does not appear to be a priority for the Democrat majority.

I have contended for some time that we might also want to start helping these children by removing them from the toxic environment they are now being raised in. It is obvious that handing money to the mothers doesn't work and the fathers are generally long gone. Unless the cycle is broken we will be having these riots every July 4th in Charlotte for years to come. A new Charlotte Independence Day tradition.
