Billjames.org has moved to a new listserve system !
Change in e-mail service Bill's Photo
For the last eight or nine years I have used an e-mail service known as 'listbuilder', a service of Microsoft. During the 1990's folks contacted me about what was going on and I found that regular e-mail services would limit the number of people I could respond to in a business manner. On some occasions I would receive several hundred e-mails on one topic. Over the years a list serve system became necessary to communicate efficiently and respond to individuals or groups seeking inquiries. During my 10 years in office I have accumulated a thousand's of e-mail addresses of folks asking for information about Mecklenburg County politics on various issues. Since 'Listbuider' is going out of business, I have been forced to migrate to a new list server to maintain this service. The one I selected is called 'Constant Contact'. All of you who are receiving this e-mail should have already contacted me at some point in time about a county issue. If you are receiving this e-mail in error there is an unsubscribe box below. If you are not sure about clicking the unsubscribe box (some people are wary of that) you can just send me an e-mail and I will unsubscribe you myself.

As in the past, this list is used for folks who are interested in Mecklenburg County politics and the news associated with the City Council, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and County Commission. As with all new systems I am sure there will be a few bugs to iron out.

Listbuilder will stop service at the end of May. The next six months in Mecklenburg County will have discussions on a variety of significant issues including:
  • The Transit Tax (will there be a vote to repeal and will SCAT get their 48,000 signatures)?
  • CMS School Bonds (will it be $400 million as promised or $620 million as stated)?
  • Tax increases (will the County Commission once again raise taxes in an non-election year)?
If you wish to remain subscribed NO ACTION is required. If you wish to be removed, click unsubscribe below (or e-mail me to do so).
